The newly renovated 4-star Hotel Baía Azul is ideally situated a 4-minute walk from Funchal’s beachfront. It offers 3 swimming pools, 3 restaurants, a Spa and a sun deck overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and the gardens.

The hotel is composed of 215 bedrooms with sea-inspired décors, all fitted with an en suite bathroom with bath amenities and a hairdryer. Each room features a flat-screen cable TV, a minibar, a kettle and a safe deposit box. Free WiFi access is provided in all rooms and common areas.

At each of the three on-site restaurants, guests will find distinctive ambiences. The design of the hotel, beautiful vieuws, the reception, we arrived very early but we could check inn! Thank you Filippa!our room was top!the breakfast is a dream, with the seating aerea outside having your Delta coffee...in the outside area of the hotel lots of restaurants too at 5 min walks.The lido promenade to make a walk to the beach direction Camara dos lobos..you can acces trough the garden behind the pool.The little treats from the hotel...we loved it!There is a free shuttlebus from the hotel to center Funchal and back.We booked tours, they pick you up and return you at the hotel.And there is also the yellowbus...we enjoyed our stay very much..even at the rainy days...

We had the buffet for dinner...a bit expensive, with the drinks charged separately...we went for the restaurants nearby...we liked that better.

Excellent January escape

Lovely grand property, chilled vibe, many different zones to relax inside and out. Fantastic sea views. Still musical evening entertainment even in January. Breakfast was also the most impressive I've ever seen in a hotel - variety and size of spread available.

Spa - we were told not no need to book in advance. But then no appointments were available when we asked on arrival.

Clean and well maintained property, very nice common areas. They have a great attention to detail, everything is made to cater to your needs. Breakfast was very complete, even options for vegans or non gluten friendly. Spa adds a nice touch

I thought the gym was a little small but not everyone goes on a vacation to workout.

Wonderful

We liked swimming in the fresh water outdoor pool, relaxing in the lounge bar, and there was a very good variety of food at breakfast. The hotel had a nice modern feel and it was very nicely decorated for Christmas. The staff were always friendly and helpful. We enjoyed our stay very much!

Equipmemt in the gym was limited, and at the time of our visit the main piece of gym equipment was broken and out of use.

Amazing facilities with amazing views. Very nice outdoor pool space. Room was perfect size for our needs. Breakfast had good variety.

We booked with the expectation of spending some time in the indoor pool with our baby but the temperature (environment and water) in this space was not comfortable enough for us to enjoy.

Great hotel in a great location

The staff here are lovely. The rooms and all the facilities were spotless and really well kept (including the two pools and the gym). The location is really lovely: close to a bus stop to get into Funchal or only a 40-minute walk to the center. Lots of restaurants and shops are nearby. Breakfast is also great - really large selection of everything from yoghurt, fresh fruit, continental, and cooked (alongside a LOT of different egg choices).

The only slight issue was that we booked a room with a balcony and didn't get one - but the room was lovely regardless.

Liked the different dining options (buffet, bar, a la carte). Entrance was very impressive and welcoming. Excellent seating options and viewpoints on different levels.

Outdoor pools, especially the kids pool, was not warm enough for swimming. There were no spa treatment appointments available for our whole weeklong stay. Would be good to advertise pre booking prior to arrival or have more treatment appointments available.

I liked the breakfast, the view from the comunal balcony. They had artists playing live music in the evening. They also gave us snacks every time they cleaned the room.

Absolutely loved my stay at this hotel! The service was impeccable, with the staff going above and beyond to ensure every aspect of my stay was comfortable and enjoyable. The views from my room were stunning, offering a breathtaking panorama of the cityscape that made each morning and evening special. The pool area is a true oasis. It's beautifully designed with plenty of loungers and shaded areas, perfect for relaxing and soaking up the sun. The pool itself is pristine and inviting, making it hard to resist a daily dip. Overall, this hotel exceeded all my expectations. I can't wait to return and experience it all over again. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a perfect blend of luxury, comfort, and top-tier service.

Very Good

Generally the hotel is nice, the room is spacious and nicely equipped. the pool area is decent and has a nice view.

There are few things I didnt like. E.g. when you get the room directed to the street (which we did) your balcony is right next to main street, which is very loud so it is impossible to have the balcony open or to sit there. But the most annoying thing, I have not had such expensive coca-cola in 3 weeks in the island. Even the in airplane it is cheaper. Also the bartenders were not very attentive. Also the hotel advertises a spa, but it is actually in their sister hotel, 5 min walk away. The breakfast was nice in terms of quantity a bit let of quality.

Delightful, vibrant, scenic hotel.

Great location. Staff is friendly and helpful. And stunning views! We enjoyed our room and the little daily touches of a fruit plate or pastries, not too mention the vibrant atmosphere with live music and dancers.

Parking is a bit of an issue. We were told to park on the street because their parking lot was full. Unfortunately, sometimes there isn't much available so you can end up needing to park pretty far from the hotel.

Clean, comfortable, great staff.

The stuff were super nice! At the beginning we had a mistake with our room, and the guy at the reception immediately took care of it! The room was one of the best I ever had - big, clean and comfortable.

The parking was a bit disappointing- we didn’t know we had to reserve in advance a parking space. then we didn’t had a place to park, so we had to park 20 min from the hotel.

The hotel is in an excellent location, the view from the room is fascinating. Meals are nice, lots of choices.

The waiter at the pool is nervous and not friendly. At the reception, sometimes they give wrong information, it is worth checking in other places as well.
